Welcome to the Reel World

The past year at Poplar Hill Estate has been all about marketing. At the end of 2020, Poplar Hill hired new staff to get some fresh eyes and shed some new light and ideas on the company. In 2021, we hit the ground running-ish to get the word out! Here’s a few things we’ve done:

Phil and I did a short interview with WGRZ on their WNY living segment to get the word out about Poplar Hill to the local community. This was the first time I had been on television, so it was a bit nerve wracking to be put on the spot, but all around a great experience. Check out the segment below!

We have had the absolute pleasure of working with the amazing team at WGRZ to create marketing pieces that showcase our venue in its true light, mainly through commercials. The main point we wanted to show in our commercials was the feel you have at our venue. We had no clue how they would be able to capture that and turn it into something people could understand through a screen, but they did it! Our commercials air this month so keep an eye out and let us know what you think! We’d love to hear from you!

Our website had been given a complete makeover! While our previous website was functional, it was happily laid to rest in late November, opening the door for us to say hello to this completely new site. Our ideas are still flowing as we are still making some improvements, but go see what we’ve created!

Some little features worth nothing:

  • Instagram feed linked to home page
  • Detailed contact forms because we want to know about YOU
  • Pictures of how couples have transformed our venue for their big day
  • Preferred and highly recommenced, but not required vendors to help you start your wedding planing journey
  • Blog page

A huge thank you to Scout Buffalo Web Design for his work and continual help to make this come to life and function better than ever!

Facebook and Instagram are our bread and butter but Facebook has been the powerhouse for so long and a staple in so many people’s lives that we are focusing on it a little differently. A large portion of our target market is on this platform so we had to make sure we were reaching them. Our posts on Facebook and Instagram are the same…for the most part. There are some videos, like above, that are just on Facebook with a little blurb on Instagram and vice versa when it comes to reels on Instagram. Facebook is unique in that it gives us a great place to share how other people experienced our venue with their personal photos, reviews, and more.

Let’s get to the reels. In all honestly, we never knew what Instagram reels could do for us. We thought they were simply teenagers dancing to trendy music and never something we could utilize as a wedding venue. This could not have not been any further from the truth.

The first few reels were slightly painful to create. It was difficult to find the right editing apps, frustrating to use Instagram and get the timing to line up, and even more infuriating to create content that our audience wanted to see. The typical trends for the trending audios just didn’t fit our vibe. After two or three times of just rolling with it and posting them, we have gotten the hang of it, and man have the creative juices been flowing! You can never have too many drafts and picking which ones to post are now our biggest dilemma (it’s the best dilemma to have).

Our goal with reels isn’t to go viral. We truly want to show our personality and have some fun in our office. There are times where we are extremely stressed and need to take a step back. This is a fun and creative way for all of us to get involved, brainstorm, have a laugh, all while benefiting our company and our viewers.

Stay tuned to our social media and let us know what you want to see!
