At Poplar Hill, we foster a strong sense of camaraderie within our team. Our goal is to create a welcoming and comfortable
workplace that feels like home so that your special day can be filled with the same warmth and familiarity.
Phil is the designer with all the big ideas that come to life here at Poplar Hill as well as with his other business, Luminated Landscapes. He has an eye for detail like you couldn’t imagine which keeps us on our toes and makes Poplar Hill an ever changing venue. Each time you come by, we are positive you will find something different no matter how big or small. The love and warmth of this property is largely due to Phil & Beth’s dream of giving couples a beautiful place, that is also their home, to start the next chapter of their lives. You’ll usually find Phil on the patio smoking a cigar or cooking THE BEST food for dinner.
Beth is a full time nurse and and if you have not met her in the healthcare world, you’ll see her at nearly every event helping with final touches and the needed details. She has an impeccable ability to help with all the emotions that come on a wedding day. She shares the same passion as Phil, opening up their home to help the next chapter of many love stories to come. If being a nurse isn’t enough, she is also the gardener, florist, grounds keeper that keeps all the stunning flowers alive and flower beds
The name Poplar Hill derives from the vast number of poplar trees that adorned the land. These trees were so abundant that they became a prominent feature and served as inspiration for the original name, Poplar Hill Farm. In the spring of 1962, a prominent area orthodontist, Dr. Dominic "Bucky" Colarusso, and his wife Geraldine (Hill), purchased the property where they then raised their nine children. The acquisition was a result of Bucky's desire to be a gentleman farmer and his true passion, horses! Bucky and Gerry were noted for their hospitality and played host to countless family members and friends. The farm was always a hub, truly needing a revolving door. It is estimated that the kitchen table has seen Gerry serve more than 100,000 meals. Bucky and Gerry’s son Philip and his wife Beth (Norton) bought the farm to raise their family of four. In 2017 the barn was renovated as a wedding venue to recapture the heritage and history of love, family, and community. Phil and Beth continue the long-standing tradition of hospitality at Poplar Hill Estate by warmly welcoming new families to choose their venue for hosting their special day. With an open door and open hearts, they extend a personal invitation to couples embarking on this exciting journey.
